The Gel Flex Bariatric Wheelchair Cushion is more comfortable and more supportive than a bariatric foam cushion.

Made entirely in the US, our bariatric gel-flex wheelchair cushion is utilized for superior wheelchair comfort and in the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers. Our cushions provide the ultimate in support and can be made to support weights well in excess of 800 lbs. The cushion features a non-skid bottom and ez-release safety straps to secure the cushion to the chair.

The bariatric gel-flex wheelchair cushion is constructed from multiple layers high-density foam and gel-flex. The top layer is constructed of surface cut foam which forms channels and foam springs. A semi-solid flexible gel (Gel-Flex) is poured into the channels of foam. This provides comfort and unsurpassed pressure redistribution.  Pressure ulcers can occur when the interface pressures between the body and the seating surface constrict blood flow. The perfectly matched layers of foam provides for proper immersion and envelopment around the bony prominences which are most vulnerable to skin breakdown and discomfort. Blue Chip's bariatric wheelchair cushions are covered in Vyvex III which is a multi-stretch low-shear anti-microbial, anti bacterial cover material that feel much like skin and can be easily cleaned with a 10 to 1 water/bleach solution. The cover materials are fluid and stain resistant and meet California Technical Bulletin #117 for fire retardancy.

Custom cushions can be made in a variety of widths and to support weights up to 1000 lbs.
